Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) district profile
Sant Ravidas Nagar (area: 1,055 sq km) is one of the districts covered by PACS in Uttar Pradesh. The district was created on June 30, 1994, as the state’s 65th district. The city of Gyanpur is the district headquarters.
Sant Ravidas Nagar is bordered by Jaunpur district to the north, Varanasi district to the east, Mirzapur district to the south, and Allahabad district to the west.
It is located in the plains of the Ganga which forms its south-western border. The Ganga, Varuna and Morva are major rivers here.
Sant Ravidas Nagar is famous for its carpets, both in India and abroad.
Around 22% of the population belongs to the scheduled castes. Muslims constitute around 12% of the population.
