Encouraging results have been yielded by Janani Express, Janani Sahyogi and Janani Suraksha schemes implemented by the state government with a view to bringing down the mother mortality rate (MMR) in Madhya Pradesh.

More than 18 lakh women have been benefited by these schemes this year, following which MMR has come down to 335 per lakh from 370 per lakh. After expansion of Janani Suraksha Yojana, the service is also taking general patients to hospital through 108 services in six districts of the state. The Union Government has also lauded the efforts made by the Madhya Pradesh government for bringing down mother mortality rate.
