More than 200 families of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes who have been taking shelter in the Sonbhadra tehsil have lodged a complaint with the state government, claiming that they have been denied a count in the 2011 Census.

Earlier these families had filed for land entitlement under the Forest Rights Act, but were forced to leave their villages by forest mafia, who allegedly damaged their crops and houses.
