Quality Education for All

Education still remains a distant dream for 13% of India’s children even though the 2009 Right to Education Act mandates free and compulsory education for all 6-14 year olds. For children from socially excluded groups, discrimination based on their identity is a real problem leading to low school enrollment, high dropout rates and poor quality education.

In order to curb these problems and promote inclusive education, PACS has been working with partners to empower parents, especially those from socially excluded communities, to stand for election on School Management Committees – the decision-making bodies responsible for monitoring schools and addressing issues under the Right to Education Act. Together, they are helping to ensure quality education for all children.
