Jan Swastha Abhiyan
There are 22 major national networks that constitute the Jan Swasthya Abhiyan. The representatives of the networks form the National Coordination Committee and the National Working Group. The movement is organised through state level and issue based circles.
The National Secretariat facilitates communication between members through advocacy and campaigns, a website and discussion group, media releases and publications and through JSA participation in various conferences, policy dialogues and other events supported by JSA volunteers all over the country.
JSA aims to not only achieve a broad based involvement of voluntary organizations and peoples movements, but also to achieve synergy through sharing ideas and resources.
The goal is to reach a critical mass level, needed to influence health policy in favour of the poor and organise those most affected by the trends of current policies. One major effort in such sharing was the manner in which the five JSA health booklets were produced as a joint venture – both editorially and as a publication.
The over-arching concern of the Jan Swasthya Abhiyan is to secure an adequate quality of health and health care for every Indian. The Jan Swasthya Abhiyan has within its wide range of members a large number of resource persons and activities in a number of thematic areas.
