The CINI project aims is to strengthen capacities of socially excluded communities and create a space for their voices to be heard in the planning and decision making process.

The project's purpose is to bring about inclusive development by enabling socially excluded communities to access quality education, health and nutrition services.

The project is being supported by PACS for four years and will work in 516 villages in the Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri districts of West Bengal.

CINI aims

  • Increased capacity of socially excluded communities in demanding, accessing, utilising education, health and nutrition rights and entitlements.

  • Improved knowledge and attitudes of service providers and local self -government on equity regarding delivery of quality services.

  • Strengthened institutional engagement at all levels to improve the quality and accessibility of service delivery systems of education, health and nutrition.

  • Increased representation of women, children and other socially excluded communities in different institutional forums.

  • Developed a health equity based initiative focused on mother and child health issues.

 

About CINI

Child In Need Institute (CINI) began its work in 1974 with a health clinic in Kolkata, West Bengal. Since then, it has grown into a national non-government organisation (NGO) reaching approximately five million marginalised-poor across India. CINI's mission focuses on sustainable development in health, nutrition, education and protection of child, adolescent and woman in need.

The organisation is involved in direct interventions with communities, providing institutional services, capacity building, documentation and research, networking and policy advocacy. CINI is recognized as one of the pioneers in the field of community health. It has also been building its expertise in education and protection sectors as well.
