Panchsheel Development Trust (PDT) works for the welfare of flood erosion-affected communities in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh. 

The aim of the project is to address the rehabilitation issues of river erosion displaced families, especially from schedule caste (SC) and Muslim communities, by ensuring basic services and advocating for rehabilitation policy changes.

PDT aims

  • Community mobilisation to build people driven organisation - gram punarvas samitis.

  • The CBOs will collectively work to influence the gram panchayat to take up development issues at the grass roots level.

  • Developing village, block and district level participatory draft resettlement and rehabilitation plan.

  • Formation of resource group for the review of RR Bill 2009.

 

About Panchsheel Development Trust (PDT)

PDT was established in 2003 and registered under FCRA on 13 February 2008. The organisation is engages with river erosion displaced communities to help them advocate the proper rehabilitation against their losses. Holistic development of the community has been the approach of the organisation.

The organisation has been working on several issues, including flood relief and rehabilitation; agricultural livelihood; water and sanitation; and education and health in eastern region, especially the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh.
