The Disha project aims to ensure entitlements for scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), Muslims and women under MGNREG, FRA and other social security schemes.
The project's purpose is to provide livelihood security for socially excluded communities through accountable and proactive local self-goverenance Panchayats.
The Disha project is working in 288 villages in the Sundargarh district of Odisha. PACS is supporting the project for four years.
Disha aims

Enhanced food and nutrition security for excluded groups, through the development of climatic adaptable community assets for sustainable agro practices using MGNREG, thus decreasing dependency on the government.

Enhance capacities of ST, SC, Muslims, women and community based organisations on MGNREG, FRA and other government schemes.

Build capacity of the people's organisation for advocating issues of social exclusion for policy change.
About Disha
Disha was founded in 1995 by a group of development professionals and started working in some villages in the Bisra block of Sundargarh district.
The organisation works with the scheduled tribes of the region and fights the exploitative structures of the area.
Disha focuses on women and child development, food security and gender justice in the tribal areas of Odisha. Beside this, Disha also works with the small Muslim community resembling tribals in this area.
