About Swadhikar
Swadhikar was founded in 2005, but had started work in 1998 as a network of organisations and individuals working on human rights across the country. The network works towards strengthening the voice of the socially excluded and marginalised.
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it was resolved to form a National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) to raise the visibility of caste-based discrimination, engage in international advocacy and raise these issues at UN level; as well as promote and provide support to other Dalit movements across India.
This campaign continued aggressive work to demand state accountability towards Dalit Human Rights violations, to ensure the criminal justice system and Human Rights institutions pay heed to the demands of Dalits.
Network partners
PACS encourages projects to collaborate with like-minded organisations to deliver the best results in the designated project area. These collaborations are called network projects. Swadhikar is implementing the project with the four network partners:
-
Centre for Health and Social Justice
-
Krishak Sahyog Sansthan
-
Pradeepan
-
Satyakam Jankalyan Samiti.
