The aim of the Jan Sahas project is to establish the rights and entitlements of Dalits (schedule castes) and other socially excluded communities, including scheduled tribes (ST) and Muslims.

The project's purpose is to promote and protect the human rights of socially excluded groups and ensure basic entitlements for livelihoods, education, health and nutrition.

The Jan Sahas project is working in the Jabalpur, Damoh, Sehore and Panna districts of Madhya Pradesh. PACS is supporting the project for four years.

Jan Sahas aims

  • Improved livelihood of the scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST) and Muslims.

  • Improved literacy level of children from SC, ST and Muslim communities through regular formal education.

  • Increase in access to quality health services for Dalit and other socially excluded communities (ST and Muslims).

  • Improved access and availability of proper nutrition to members of Dalit and other socially excluded communities (ST and Muslims).

About Jan Sahas

The Jan Sahas Social Development Society (Jan Sahas) was founded in 2000. The organisation works in rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh, primarily with Dalits, children and women. Key areas of work include education, health, social empowerment and social justice.

Key strategies of the organisation include campaigns, workshops and trainings, awareness programs and forming community organisation. They have also conducted studies for advocacy.
