The Vikas Foundation project aims to ensure non-discriminatory access to education for women and socially excluded communities.

The purpose of the project is to increase the enrolment and retention of children (aged 6-14) from the target areas in formal government schools. The project will work in 125 villages in the Giridih district of Jharkhand. The project is being supported by PACS for four years of implementation.

Vikas Foundation aims

  • Proactive involvement of women and children, in the form of parent groups and Bal Panchayats, to address issues of  discrimination through direct action in terms of evidence-based advocacy and campaigning .

  • Establish and develop strategic links with the government and other stakeholders; interface with the service providers regarding education entitlements and requirements of the excluded groups.

  • Develop community-based organisations (CBOs) of women and youths and develop their capacity as leaders to take part in decision making in various committees to ensure accountable governance.

About Vikas Foundation

The Vikas Foundation works with marginalised communities to enable them to be part of the mainstream structure. Its approach and management style has always been embedded with the principles of effective leadership, innovation and participation. 

The foundation provides services for the socio-economic development of the under-privileged sections of society, including: interactive awareness generation activities for urban and rural communities, capacity building, child and adult education, health promotion, improving livelihoods, women's empowerment and mobilising public opinion.

These initiatives are based on the needs of the target communities, with a special focus on women.
