Dalit Vikas Vindu

Improving the health and nutritional status of tribals and scheduled castes.

Districts:
Giridih, Sahibganj

Theme :
Non-discriminatory access to the right to basic services through health and nutrition.

The Dalit Vikas Vindu project aims to improve the health and nutrition status of women and children belonging to scheduled tribes (ST) and scheduled castes (SC).

The purpose of the project is to empower socially excluded groups to fight the discrimination they face in accessing health and nutrition services. This will be achieved through the strengthening of community based organisations (CBOs) and greater participation in decision-making processes.

The project will work in 214 villages in the Giridih and Sahebganj districts of Jharkhand. The project will be supported by PACS for four years of implementation.

Dalit Vikas Vindu aims

  • Formation and capacity building of CBOs to access their rights and entitlements.

  • Strong representation of socially excluded groups in various decision-making bodies at the local governance level.

  • Advocacy and engagement with the government at block, district and state level to ensure greater convergence.

  • Documentation and dissemination of best practices to be shared with stakeholders at different levels.
