Non-discriminatory access to livelihood rights through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGS).

The aim of the IZAD project is to strengthen the voice of Muslim and Dalit women, enabling them to assert their rights in regard to MGNREGA.

The project ensures the livelihood security of women, especially women from Muslim, scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) communities. It aims to ensure the effective utilisation of entitlements under the MGNREGA scheme and other schemes/programmes aimed at livelihood security.

The project is working in 30 villages of Kinshanganj district in Bihar. IZAD is being supported by PACS for four years.

IZAD aims

  • Promoting women's groups belonging to the excluded communities and building capacities regarding their entitlements under MGNREGA and other food security schemes.

  • Build capacities of women to enable them to monitor the performance of various schemes and to demand their entitlements those schemes.

  • Increased representation and participation women and local leaders in decision-making bodies at all levels

About IZAD

IZAD was founded in March 2003 and believes that development is possible only when human lives and conditions of living are improved. The organisation works to ensure education as a fundamental right for children.

IZAD also works to educate, organise and empower the rural poor to promote development and enable their target group to participate at every level of decision making in their community.
