Bihar Viklang Kalyan Parishad (BVKP)

A project for the socio-economic development of persons with disability (PwD).

Non-discriminatory access to livelihood rights through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGS).

The BVKP aims to provide sustainable livelihoods to persons with disability (PwD) by enabling them to understand their entitlements and claim it, especially through the MGNREGA.

The projects purpose is to support in mainstreaming of persons with disabilities (PwD) into the society, by enabling them to understand their entitlements, and accessing them through collective and sustained community action.

BVKP aims

  • Developing community supported organisations at Panchayat levels as the primary support structure for PwDs.

  • The Panchayat level organisation would act as representatives of the PwDs at the Panchayat to influencing decision at the Panchayat level in favor of the disabled.

  • Building capacity of the PwD groups to avail livelihood opportunities under MGNREGA.

About BVKP

BVKP has been working exclusively with Persons with Disablity (PwD) for their all wholistic development. However, within the PwD community, the organization focuses on the most vulnerable groups such as women, children and disabled from socially excluded groups

BVKP works for the rights and entitlements of the PwD through identification, rehabilitation and entitlement realisation with support from government department, donor agencies and society.. The organisation has advocated for the rights and entitlements of PWD with a rights based approach besides rehabilitation as a means of support to the PWD.
