Deoghar district profile

Deoghar is one of the districts covered by PACS in Jharkhand. The district was formed on June 1, 1986, by separating Deoghar sub-division of the erstwhile district of Santhal Parganas. It is part of the Santhal Parganas division, and comprises seven blocks: Deoghar, Karon, Madhupur, Mohanpur, Palojori, Sarath and Sarwan. Deoghar town is the administrative headquarters.

Around 12% each of the district’s population belongs to the scheduled castes and roughly an equal proportion to scheduled tribes. Muslims constitute around 19% of the population.
