Begusarai district profile

Begusarai is one of the districts covered by PACS in Bihar. The district is situated on the northern bank of the river Ganga. It is part of Munger division. Begusarai town is the administrative headquarters.

Begusarai was given district status in 1972. It is part of the historic Mithila region.

Important rivers here include the Ganga, Budhi Gandak, Balan, Bainty, Baya and Chandrabhaga.

Around 14% of the population belongs to the scheduled castes. Muslims constitute 13% of the population.
