Bastar district profile

Bastar is one of the districts covered by PACS in Chhattisgarh.

The district (area: 8,755 sq km) is located in the southern part of Chhattisgarh at a height of 2,000 feet. Kanker district is to its north, Maharashtra state to the west, Dantewada district in the south, and the state of Orissa in the east. Bastar is divided into four tehsils: Jagdalpur, Kondagaon, Keshkal and Narainpur. The largest river in Bastar district is the Indravati. The total forest area is 7,112 sq km, which is over 75% of the district’s area.
